Classifying such a number of sports in definite categories is definitely an arduous task. But roughly, we can manage to suggest few criteria that can put a sport in the closest possible category. Using these criteria, the categories that have been formed are as follows,

• Racing Sports: In racing sports, there are a number of competitors racing against each other and sometimes also in teams. • Achievement sports: Achievement sports can be taken as the ones in which the players show off their abilities. The categories might help you understand it more clearly. There are three types of achievement sports; Target sports are the ones in which the objective is to hit a target such as shooting and archery. Display sports are the ones in which the participants display certain ability or moves like in bodybuilding, gymnastics and diving. In strength sports, the participants show off their strength as in weight lifting and triple jump.

• Athletics: And finally, there are athletics in which the competitors have to show their abilities in a combination of different sports from above mentioned categories. We can roughly divide these into running, jumping and throwing. The players have to participate in a series of different games and the one with highest over all score is the winner.

The Sports and Hobbies of Mozambique

Mozambicans are quite passionate about their sports; with a firm focus on soccer and to a lesser extent other sports. There are lots of opportunities for hobbies and recreational activities, but as these can be quite costly at times you will find most Mozambican’s aren’t able to partake. As with most other facets of this beautiful country, the lack infrastructure combined with the poverty levels have had a profound effect on the development of sports and hobbies through the entire land.

Soccer

Soccer, sometimes known as football due to the Portuguese influence, is hugely popular in Mozambique as in other African nations. Are Chin Implants at Risk If One Participates in Sports?

A chin implant is the standard treatment for a weak or short chin. It is tremendously effective, very simple to perform, and a wide variety of sizes and shapes of implants are available to use. While chin augmentation is performed in both men and women, it is done more frequently in patients under the age of 40.

This younger age group is also commonly engaged in numerous sports activities. Many of these sports activities can involve contact to the face, whether it be intentional or inadvertent. If one has a chin implant, does participation in these sports place it at risk for problem should the face be traumatized?

It is of interest then to know whether chin implants can become fractured or fragmented from traumatic impact. None of the manufacturers could provide any information about this potential. Therefore, I testing them using the ASTM (American Society of Testing Materials) drop test. I have previously used this method to test the fracture potential for cranioplasty materials. Using an 8 lb. weight dropped from five feet, silicone, PTFE (Gore-tex) and Medpor chins were tested. Silicone and PTFE implants were unaffected, a Medpor chin did develop a fracture.

This drop test, however, does not really replicate what would happen with a chin implant in a human. With the implant up against the bone, the impacting force is transmitted to the underlying bone. As a result, the implant does not absorb the entire force alone or without the support of an underlying framework. Therefore, implant fracture is highly unlikely unless the impacting force is of such a magnitude that the bone would fracture.

What is more likely from trauma is that the chin implant may become shifted or moved. Chin implant shifting or migration is a well known complication which can occur even in the absence of being traumatized. It would make sense therefore to protect the implant from that potential in the young athletic male or female. This can be done by simple screw fixation of the implant to the bone during surgery.

Screws can easily be placed through the implant to the underlying bone. But a single screws can act as a pivot point. Therefore, two screws placed in a parasagittal fashion would make it virtually impossible for it to ever shift position after surgery. One could argue that a single midline screw may be just as sufficient, but it is just as easy to place two screws as one.

If a patient is concerned about their risk of chin implant problems from athletic participation, screw fixation is a simple prevention measure. They can be easily placed whether the implant is placed from inside the mouth or under the chin.

The History of Water Sports

Swimming is noted in many of the classics as relating to heroism and religion. The True Definition of Conditioning in Sports and Fitness

Conditioning is a word that is used a lot in the fitness industry but what does it really mean to have conditioning? There are those that are ripped from strength conditioning, marathon runners have to go through a type of stamina conditioning and then there is the conditioning that is necessary for fighters and martial artists.

Conditioning can come off as this hard core concept of hard work and training to build your body up so it can perform or endure what the sport demands of it.

And it’s true.

However, that is not the whole picture of what it means to be a conditioned athlete. Building your body and it’s performance potentials is only the outcome associated to having “great conditioning”.

The other half of the definition of conditioning is more about the discipline, the standard and the values that you adopt.

“Great conditioning” is the result of adopting and integrating habits, standards and values that slowly, over time changes and transforms the conditions of the body.

Conditioning isn’t so much about building yourself up but rather more about adopting a specific way of being that will serve you in the long run which is beneficial for the performance and execution of the skills in a given sport or physical activity.

So, how do you integrate a great conditioning ritual? One that will meet your athletic needs based on the sport or physical activity of your choice?

A good place to start is by looking at where your values are placed in your sport. By looking at the components that you already have a natural inclination to favour and value, then you have a platform where you can design for yourself a discipline that you are more than likely to commit to.

If for example you naturally favour cardio, then use that as a base to develop a discipline to condition, not only great cardio but also as a way to condition better form, more strength and greater endurance doing the activity that is the source of cardio. It’s also a great way to develop secondary attributes. If, for instance you typically rely on jogging for cardio but you would like to develop another physical skill or work on some upper body, than you might consider cardio boxing. Or you might want to develop better foot co-ordination and do some skip rope.

By focusing on what you already prefer, you are much more likely to build on it and develop a discipline and from a place of discipline is where conditioning can flow from the best.

Also, using discipline is a powerful way to predispose yourself to growth and improvement in a specific skill or attribute. Once you have established a discipline on a particular practice, then it’s only a matter of pushing yourself and upping the ante in order to improve and refine that conditioning.

Let me leave with one final thought, and that is, when thinking in terms of the type of conditioning you feel you may need for whatever fitness goal that you have, think about what habits you need to adopt and how you need to be in the process of the training rather than what you need to do to reach and achieve a goal to finally arrive at. Chances are that when you arrive at that goal, in order to maintain it, you will need to sustain the conditioning by maintaining the practice that got you there in the first place.

Conditioning is a process.
